School Debating Team March 2017

Our Year 5/6’s are participating in an online debating competition which provides a fantastic application and motivation for writing persuasive texts. Students have been learning about facts v’s opinions, how to prepare a rebuttal, providing research to support arguments and the use of persuasive language to influence an audience. Not only do the students compete in the competition but they also have the opportunity to judge a debate, learning about the way in which debates are scored whilst picking up tips from other schools to improve their thinking and arguments.
